On Wednesday, May 9th, ASPIRA of New York will celebrate its 2018 annual Circle of Achievers Gala at eSpace, located at 635 W. 42nd St., New York, NY, from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. We hope you will join us for an inspiring evening focused on recognizing corporate achievers who make a social difference within the Latino community, as well as, awarding deserving Aspirantes with college scholarships.
Since 1961, founded by Dr. Antonia Pantoja, ASPIRA has been at the forefront of providing educational and leadership development opportunities to Latino youth. In New York City, nearly all of the students we serve come from low-income households. More often than not, they attend poor performing schools in under-resourced school districts and are first-generation college entrants.
In 2017, 100% of students engaged in our College Access Leadership Program earned a high school diploma; of those, 95%, entered college. In our elementary and middle school based programs, 93.8% of students had passing grades to enable them to progress with their age group towards graduation with 86.7% improved school attendance. In every program we run, active students showed a marked improvement in all school subjects, including reading, writing and math. The majority of students reported increased confidence levels and greater college "awareness." Moreover, our service model encourages community empowerment through active engagement, as well as, the engendering of contributions to the wider society, 92.1% participated in at least one community service learning project.
Please join us and support Aspirantes with college and career dreams. Indeed, together we are transforming lives and building brighter futures – but without you, it just wouldn’t be possible. Thank you in advance for your contribution and continued support!
